Who Else Wants Out of 2008?

I yeah I know. There%26#039;re plenty of things to be happy about %26amp; I am. And things were not perfect %26#039;back then%26#039; either. But I%26#039;m gonna do the grumpy guy thing %26amp; rant any ol%26#039; way.

I miss my world the way it was.

Before we had to take our shoes off at airports.

Before we created a mess that gave us global warming. (%26quot;An Inconvenient Truth%26quot; scared the crap outta me)

Before movies were 11 bucks (but I still love going anyway)

Before you HAD to get cable for a good picture.

Before we had to worry about %26quot;threat level%26#039; color codes.

Before we were bombarded w/ %26quot;news%26#039; about Britney %26amp; other brainless pop tarts who go to rehab.

When pushing the envelope in music was part of the *mainstream* %26amp; Disney wasn%26#039;t churning out vapid acts for 10 year olds.

Before dumb %26quot;reality%26quot; shows that everyone Knows are scripted....but doesn%26#039;t care.

Before MTV took away mainstream music%26#039;s imagination.

When communication meant getting a handwritten letter. Complete w/ original decorations.

Can you dig it?

Who Else Wants Out of 2008?
The part you got me with was being bombarded with %26#039;news%26#039;.... and the pushing the envelope in music part ~ What can I say, Fonzie... the good old days were just that :-)

But just for fun (and another point of view) lets talk about...

How cool it is having a computer in every home and office

ATM machines

Microwave popcorn (had a bit of a movie afternoon today :-)

which brings up:

Movies on tape (or DVD/whatever)

Cell phones

Digital cameras

Answering machines

Can you dig it? At least a little...

I saved the best for last.... We get a NEW PRESIDENT this year ~ thank gawd!

**edit**

Okay, now I%26#039;m bummed out too... :(

The album art ~ I weep for it%26#039;s loss.

Cool terminology, tho ~ %26#039;convenient technology%26#039;
Reply:Couldn%26#039;t agree more - you%26#039;re definitely the coolest, Fonzie.
Reply:For me, 2008 got off to a terrible start with a death in the family. The state of political discourse - that is to say, the depths it%26#039;s sunk to - here in the USA is enough to drive a person around the bend, and will only get worse as we get closer to November. I think I%26#039;ll go put The Beatles%26#039; %26quot;HELP!%26quot; on the stereo......
Reply:Agree completely. Although right now I%26#039;d settle for %26quot;Out of winter.%26quot;
Reply:I don%26#039;t think that Big Brother is scripted.
Reply:Is this the 90%26#039;s?
Reply:Wow, I never knew people took off their shoes at the airport.

Well, at least you got to live through all that, I didn%26#039;t even get to see anything of all the things you%26#039;ve mentioned in your question.
Reply:you just wrote EXACTLY how i feel

thanks lol

and yes someone does need to hurry up and get working on that time machine =]
Reply:i hate this year, my grandpa passed away i%26#039;ll never get over it and i agree with the points you%26#039;ve made. also petrol prices have sky rocketed.
Reply:Yeah - It seems you have to take the good with the bad, as time marches on... I%26#039;ll let you know when the good comes lol
Reply:You wrote how i feel in general and i wish they would just hurry up and start making that time machine
Reply:At least you lived through the good times.

I lived through some, but since I can remember, global warming has been an issue, and 9/11 hit before I was a teen.

And as for society itself... don%26#039;t get me started, I%26#039;m part of the generation that... er.... basically feeds off of junk and ignorance.
