What is the best way to clean a horseshoe for decoration?

I want to mount a picture in a horseshoe, but the shoe is pretty dirty.

What is the best way to clean a horseshoe for decoration?
you need to use a very stiff brush, one that that has %26quot;metal%26quot; bristles this will get rid of any dirt or rust. i also painted my horseshoes with a clear coat of paint to keep it from rusting.
Reply:A metal (wire) brush and some vinegar will remove the tarnished metal. Once it is clean and dry, a coat of clear yacht varnish will prevent it from tarnishing again...
Reply:try soaking it in bleach (real)
Reply:I%26#039;d soak it in hot soapy water (like dish detergent) and use a toothbrush to really scrub it.

If it%26#039;s rusty, that%26#039;s a whole different matter.
